 14 Ogos 2016, SMK Kedawang telah mengadakan hari pelancaran bulan kemerdekaan yang dirasmikan oleh En Halid Bin Ali ( Timbalan Pegawai Pendidikan Daerah ). Pelbagai aktiviti yang menarik telah dirancang sempena bulan kemerdekaan ini.Antara objektif pelaksanaan adalah sebagai memperingati pejuang-pejuang kemerdekaan, memberi pendedahan kepada pelajar tentang sambutan kemerdekaan dan meningkatkan semangat cinta akan negara dalam kalangan warga SMK Kedawang.

Book Sale and Exhibition

There was a book sale and exhibition in SMK Kedawang from 2 to 4 April 2016. The event started from 8.20 a.m. to 1.20 p.m. at the school's canteen.

A lot of interesting and useful books were on sale and they were sold at affordable prices.

The main objectives of this event were to encourage students to read and also to instill the habit of reading in them.

New Arrivals in The Resource Centre!

There were new arrivals in The Resource Centre of SMK Kedawang on 8 March 2016.

The new books range from science fiction to biographies to new academic reference books.

The purchase of new books in The Resource Centre was aimed at motivating the students to spend their free time reading in the resource centre as well as instilling the habit of reading in everyone of them.

English Carnival SMK Kedawang

The programme English Carnival SMK Kedawang was organised on 5 April 2016 from 7. 40 a.m. to 10.40 a.m. at The Resource Centre of SMK Kedawang.

The students involved were those who are interested in English language and motivated to become proficient English speakers in the future.

The events competed in this programme were Public Speaking, Scrabble and Poetry Recitation.

The main objectives of this programme were:

1. To identify new English talents to represent SMK Kedawang to compete in the district-level English Carnival competition.

2. To expose students in SMK Kedawang to the environment in which English is used for communicative purposes.

The students are concentrating on thinking of the next words.

Programme "Jom Membaca Bersama Untuk 10 Minit"

The programme "Jom Membaca Bersama Untuk 10 Minit" was a joint effort of the School Resource Centre (Pusat Sumber Sekolah) and the English Panel of SMK Kedawang. All students and teachers took part in this programme.

This programme was held on 25 April 2016, from 11.00 to 11.10 in the morning.

It was organised by Perbadanan Perpustakaan Awam Kedah in conjunction with Majlis Perasmian Sambutan Hari Buku Hak Cipta Sedunia.

This programme has been implemented throughout Malaysia.

The main objectives of this programme are:

1. To instill the habit of reading in every student.
2. To generate book-loving students.

The students are reading happily. 

The students are reading quietly. 

The Launching of NILAM 2016

This launching ceremony was on 6 April 2016 in SMK Kedawang.

It was officiated by the Penolong Kanan Pentadbiran of Sek. Men. Keb. Kedawang.

NILAM programme has been introduced to all primary schools and secondary schools by Malaysian Ministry of Education.

NILAM is an acronym of "Nadi Ilmu Amalan Membaca".

Its main purpose is to produce knowledgeable students by instilling the habit of reading in every school student.

The students below receive an award as a recognition for their perseverance and passion in reading:

SMKKD telah menghantar dua orang wakil bagi kedua-dua kategori sekolah menengah iaitu :-

Majlis Penutupan dan Perasmian Pertandingan Tokoh Nilam Peringkat Daerah  Langkawi 2016.

Majlis penyampaian sijil kepada pemenang oleh Pegawai PPD Langkawi, Tn.Hj Marzuki B. Hj. Daud, B.C.K.,B.K.M.

Program ini dianjurkan oleh PKG Daerah Langkawi dengan kerjasama PPD Langkawi pada 28 Februari 2016 bersamaan hari Ahad. Program bermula pada pukul 8.00 pagi dan bertempat di PKG Kuah Langkawi yang dirasmikan oleh Pegawai PPD Langkawi, Tuan Hj. Marzuki Bin Hj. Daud B.C.K.,B.K.M.

Tujuan penganjuran program ini adalah untuk mewujudkan daya usaha untuk persaingan yang sihat dan membina kekuatan minda serta menampilkan murid yang mengamalkan ciri-ciri pembaca yang berkualiti. Selain itu, bertujuan untuk melahirkan tokoh murid yang minat membaca, mengamalkan ciri-ciri pembelajaran abad ke-21, berketerampilan dan mempunyai sikap kepimpinan.
